321clubhouse-l -- queer artist collective

About 321clubhouse-l

The Clubhouse is now CoG, the Collective of Geniuses. CoG’s mission is to create art that challenges the notions on which class, gender, privilege, etc. are based. Furthermore, we empower minority artists, especially those who identify as trans, queer and/or womyn, and help them create sustainable economic stability through educational programs and creative opportunities.

This listserve serves as a medium for us to stay connected about art events that are pertinent to our community.

Our mission is to stop erasure by providing access to and through various art mediums for those who would not normally have access because of a societal disadvantage.

To increase accessablity to art production and exhibiton with consentration in the Genderqueer community. To distribute ideas through zines, books, pamphlets, stickers, buttons, patches, t-shirts, films, art shows and more, as well as manufacture custom promotional materials. To implement a printing press to publish zines and books in the hopes of adding credibility to zine writing ethics. To offer common ground for emerging artists who want to join forces, develop tools and strengthen our creative ability to shape and fuel the growth of cultural industry in the Seattle Metropolis. To organize workshops on different art techniques as well as other valuable d.i.y. skills. To make art that is functional and creative. To link with other groups looking to accomplish similar goals. We believe we can be more productive working as a united force: share skills and ideas. We believe in egalitarianism and work to destroy all forms of bigotry in society as a whole as well as in ourselves as a collective and individuals. We work to maintain sustainability while working as a collective. Through these underlying principles we work to create the world we want to live in and be the change we want to see in the world. (Gandhi)

“We need to be aware if the effect of class and economic differences on the supplies available for producing art.” (Audre Lorde)
