We are a new local committee of the larger No One Is Illegal (NOII) network, which has committees in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, as well as other countries – most notably, Australia. No One is Illegal represents what might be called the “direct action” wing of immigration and refugee rights work. In other words, NOII is involved not only in aiding refugees in the filing of applications for status in Canada, and in doing casework, but it is also involved in political activism and public education to raise awareness about, and challenge systemic racism in immigration policy.
