Wow - this is so fabulous and something I would love to hear more about and
participate in but I have a conflict that evening of another event at the
exact same time which I have registered for.
Best wishes for a successful evening of deep sharing and togetherness.

Power of Women: Our Reality in the DTES

Newspaper headlines and academic research paints the DTES in
sensationalist ways - as a neighbourhood full of crime and despair - or in
simplified ways with one-dimensional characterizations of poverty and
violence.

To counter this, the Power of Women Group - we are a group of women who
live and access services and whose community is the DTES neighourhood -
are coming together in an evening showcase of talks, poetry, skits and
more to share real truths about our life in the DTES with an emphasis on
housing, poverty, colonization, and violence against women.
