Never Home launches today!
Never Home: Legislating Discrimination in Canadian Immigration is a
groundbreaking multimedia project documenting a decade of drastic and
exclusionary immigration changes by the federal government.
Visit Never Home at http://www.neverhome.ca
Our comprehensive Never Home website features a report with multilingual
resources, videos and stories of our community members, and high impact
visuals.
Did you know there were 111 new immigration policies since 2002, compared
to 19 during 1867-2001? The percentage of citizens who became immigrants
dropped 53 percent, and the number of family class immigrants and refugees
dropped 20 percent and 30 percent, respectively. The Conservative
government jailed 87,317 people - including hundreds of children - and
violently deported 117,351 people. If migrants are allowed in, it is with
temporary, conditional or precarious status.

Fifty people have spent over one thousand unpaid hours to bring this
information, and stories about the impacts, to the fore because we know
that lives depend on it. As Diana (not her real name), shares in Never
Home, "It was the Canadian government that really killed my dad... I don’t
want this to happen to anybody else like it did to my family."
We invite you to check out Never Home and ask you to talk about it with
your friends and family and share it with your networks. If you are on
social media, follow us on Facebook and Twitter where we will be promoting
graphics and videos over the next ten weeks.
>From the Mediterranean border deaths to Fortress North America, let's make
sure we assert a basic principle of justice: all human beings, by virtue
of our breath, are inherently worthy and valuable.
Thank you for your commitment.
