Hi there,
My name is Laine Zisman Newman and I am one of the co-organizers
of Equity in Theatre (EIT), alongside Rebecca Burton (cc-ed on this
email). Equity in Theatre is a new, inclusive Canadian initiative aiming to
improve gender parity in the theatre industry.
I am writing because we are planning a Canada-wide "Equity Hackathon" for
International Women's day on March 8, 2015. Our objective is to increase
the virtual presence and visibility of Canadian women theatre practitioners
online. We thought this might be of interest to WAM! and that you might be
able to help us spread the word through your networks.
A hackathon is essentially an event where participants are asked to create,
add, and update online wikipages towards a shared goal. In this case, we
are asking participants to add content on Canadian women in the theatre
industry, including playwrights, dramaturges, performers, designers,
theatre companies, and other practitioners. We have partnered with Canadian
theatre companies and organizations throughout the country and are inviting
participants to attend any of these locations in person, or join us
virtually by registering online.
I have attached our press release to this email for distribution and
additional information. You can also visit our website here:

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!
Cheers,
Laine Zisman Newman
