Hi folks,

I know this is a really specific issue but since it's related to women &
media, I'm hoping you all can take a couple seconds to help me with it.

CBS and StarTrek.com run an official Facebook page for Star Trek that is
totally unmoderated but has more than 3.3 million fans. It's pretty much
overrun by misogynist, racist and homophobic comments and when other fans
try to call this out, they get shouted down by the trolls.

I've been working with a couple other feminist fans to collect screencaps
of examples to illustrate the issue, testimonials from fans who are
bothered by the current situation, and ideas for a comments policy and
moderators that could make the page more welcoming and inclusive to fans
from all backgrounds.

Could you please take a second to sign the online petition calling on CBS
and StarTrek.com to implement and enforce a comments policy to address the
sexist, racist and homophobic comments on the official Star Trek Facebook
page?

If you want more background and to see the examples we collected (trigger
warning) you can find all the links here:

Thanks, gang!
