By way of background, since 2009 the Women’s Advisory Committee has hosted
a Women’s History event in the Council Chambers in October. "Women's
History Month" was initiated in Canada starting in 1992 and is intended to
expose Canadians to the often undocumented contributions of women.
This event supports the City's Year of Reconciliation work by allowing
women, both aboriginal and non-aboriginal, to speak their truth, allowing
us the opportunity to hear that truth and work towards healing.
I appreciate you all have very busy schedules but if you're able to join
us, we'd be pleased to have you. Please let me know if you're able to join
us.
There is a poster attached if you'd like to share the event with your
networks.
