> Hope you're all finding ways to stay cool. I'll spare you the "things are heating up at WAM!" puns this time, because I'm just too sweaty for it. But there is a lot of good stuff happening -- read on for details.

>
> Many WAM!mers were gutted and outraged by the acquital of George Zimmerman in the murder of Trayvon Martin, and have been taking to the streets and the internet this week in protest. We've got a sampling of their words and their work on our blog.

> The WAM! Community Action Network (WAM!CAN) launched with a bang this May, forcing Facebook to take gender-based violence seriously. Next week, we're launching our second action, and we've already started planning more. But we need your help to guide us.
>
> Are you an activist with a track record of results? Do you know someone who is? Then we need you to nominate yourself or someone else to the WAM!CAN Action Advisory Board. The Action Advisory Board is a rotating group of three seasoned activists with a passion for gender and media, and the next opening on the Board is this August. So click here and tell us who we should be recruiting!

> Many of you have asked how things are going with Facebook's committment to WAM! to crack down on content that promotes gender-based violence. The short answer is this: it's two steps forward, one step back, but we're getting there. A lot of content has been and continues to be removed, with WAM!'s active help. And we're flying to Palo Alto next week to meet with key Facebook staffers with influence over content moderation. But there's still a lot to do, and we've hit some obstruction from Facebook as well, so we're going to need to keep up the pressure.
