*Volunteer Co-ordinator *

Vancouver Co-operative Radio, CFRO, 100.5 FM is a non-profit,
listener-supported, community station that has provided Vancouver with
alternative public affairs, music and arts programming since 1975. Co-op
Radio provides a space for under-represented voices and perspectives and
broadcasts 24 hours a day, and in more than a dozen languages. We are a
registered member co-operative and rely upon our more than 400 volunteers
to not only produce programming but also to contribute to the functioning
of the station. This position will focus on improving the experiences of
volunteers at Co-op Radio by improving how we recruit, orient, train,
communicate with, involve and appreciate volunteers. This is a temporary
part-time position reporting to the Director of Member Services. Funding
for this position is provided by the Community Radio Fund of Canada.

*DATES:   *Mid-February to mid-July, 2013.

*HOURS:  *10 hours/week.*  *22 weeks total. Scheduling of hours is
flexible.

*WAGE:  *$17/hr plus 12% in lieu of vacation and benefits, for a total of
$19.04/hour.


 *KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY*
 - Conduct an assessment of the current volunteer systems at the station in
the areas of recruitment, orientation, training, volunteer involvement,
co-ordination, communication and appreciation; assessment will include
surveying
current volunteers, meeting with staff and detailing related processes
- Compile and present a report of the assessment to the staff collective
with recommendations for change
- Implement the relevant recommendations which may include updating
orientations and manuals, revamping the  training process, developing
volunteer job descriptions and creating systems for ongoing recruitment and
outreach
- Co-ordinate volunteer management training for the staff collective
- Ensure long-term sustainability of volunteer systems by ensuring
their feasibility for incorporation into the work of the permanent staff

*QUALIFICATIONS*
 - Friendly, personable, and outgoing
- Experience co-ordinating volunteers in a non-profit and/or
community-based setting
- Community-based organizational development experience: assessment,
planning and co-ordination
- Demonstrated skills in writing reports, manuals and job descriptions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: clear written and
verbal communication, conflict resolution, ability to openly give and
accept feedback, ability to dialogue with diverse parties and ability to work
effectively as a team member
- Excellent time-management skills including the ability to work
independently on a project and see it to completion
