[Wamvan] Mark your calendars! Monday Media Mutiny event on August 19

Hi, after a few months' break, Monday Media Mutiny is back! They're
scheduled for the third Monday evenings of each month.

This coming Monday (August 19), we will meet to put together WAM!'s
alternative "Best Summer Movie" list. *Please RSVP* to me to confirm your
attendance as soon as you can so we can choose an appropriate sized venue.

This is how a WAM! member describes the event: "I've seen a lot of
interesting online conversations this week about "best of" and "essential"
movie lists and the lack of diversity they reflect. It might be interesting
to make alternative lists of movies created by women, people of color, and
queer & trans people to post or leave around the city (movie theaters,
cafes, community spaces, etc), as part of a larger conversation about
questioning how "authoritative" or "objective" those mainstream lists
really are."

At the event, we'll be employing the "Bechdel Test"

our own judgement to put together our own list, which we will distribute
around the city and upload to our website.

If someone among us is handy with Photoshop, we can also design a satirical
movie poster to upload on our website to share around the web along with
the movie list.
