Wow! This has been a huge day for the sex workers' rights movement in
Canada. This morning at 6:45 a.m. we received the decision in the
SWUAV/Kiselbach case that we argued before the Supreme Court of Canada last
January<http://www.pivotlegal.org/journey_to_the_supreme_court_of_canada?e=9f1729350f899dab9f9e467d43d0d87d3d1045ba&utm_source=pivotlegal&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=swuav_win&n=1&recruiter_id=6879>-
the court unanimously ruled that a former sex worker (Sheri Kiselbach)
and an organization run by and for street-based sex workers (SWUAV) should
be granted public interest standing to challenge the laws that criminalize
adult prostitution. This decision means so much to our clients, and will
mean so much for access to justice for marginalized people in Canada.

I have spent the day digesting the decision, meeting with our clients,
legal team, friends, supporters, and allies, and doing media interviews.
However, I wanted to take a minute to thank you for your support. The
Government seemed very intent on stopping this case from ever being heard -
and it was the courage and strength of our clients and the community
support that kept us going.
