"HOT INK"
Creative Writing Program for Teen Girls
The RWRC is seeking a Program Facilitator for the Hot Ink program.
Hot Ink is an extra-curricular creative writing program for young women
from grades 8 to 12. It
provides a place for girls to meet people with similar interests. The
program's main goals are: (1)
to increase the self-confidence of young women, and (2) to push the
boundaries of creative
expression.
GENERAL JOB DUTIES:
The "Hot Ink" Facilitator will have the freedom
to run her own program. Aspects of management
and facilitation include:
* Advertising the class, including contact with
high school throughout Richmond
* Creating lesson plans and facilitating lessons
* Encouraging a relaxed, supportive atmosphere
ideal for writing/sharing of work
* Critically assessing students' strengths and
weaknesses and communicating them in a
respectful manner
* Managing the financial aspects of the program
* Communicating with sponsor teacher and
sponsor organization (RWRC)
* Organizing field trips and special events
* Spearheading the publication of a magazine at
the end of the program
COMMITMENT
* 2 hours per week facilitating plus up to 20 hours
start up and wind down administrative time.
AVAILABILITY:
At least one weekday per week, after 3 pm (the
same weekday).
Pay:
$15.75/hour
REQUIRMENTS:
Facilitation experience, strong leadership and
interpersonal skills, knowledge and interest in
English and/or in Fine Arts. Experience working
with youth is an asset. Interest in democratic,
student-centered learning approaches.
Independent, organized, self-motivated, and
innovative.
