Place: SFPIRG Lounge, TC 326 in the Rotunda, SFU Burnaby
Fat Happiness Day is a chance for members of the SFU community to gather
together for a facilitated discussion about the politics of fat and body
size diversity. Bring your fat happiness - and yes, also your struggle and
pain around this issue - and join us in the SFPIRG lounge. This month’s
Fat Happiness Day will be a zine-making extravaganza with Dana Putnam. Dana
is a library worker, a button-maker, a lover of zines and the arts, a
lapsed cyclist and a recalcitrant writer. She is honoured to be asked to
come up the hill to share resources and work together to tell our own
stories. There will be cupcakes!

Place: *Across the Americas
We are heeding a call from communities in the global south that have
organized and are resisting the exploitative practices of the mega resource
extractive industry. Organizations across the Americas – from Argentina to
Canada – stand in solidarity with communities impacted by the Canadian
extractive industry. Together, we are calling for a Continental Day of
Action to demand an end to exploitative and unjust mining practices. Civil
society along with communities from Canada to Argentina will conduct
coordinated actions including rallies, demonstrations, community radio
coverage, letter writing campaigns and other alternative and imaginative
actions of protest in front of mining corporate offices and Canadian
embassies across the Americas.

About SFPIRG The SFPIRG Public Interest Research Group, aka SFPIRG, is a
student-funded and student-directed resource centre dedicated to
environmental and social justice. PIRG's were established across North
American campuses in the 1970's and 80's as a way for students to advocate
for change.
SFPIRG was set-up by students on SFU's Burnaby campus in 1981 - we're
currently celebrating our 30th birthday!
Our mission is to work towards a just and sustainable world. Areas of work
include education, action, research and community.

Today, most of BC remains unceded sovereign Native lands, over which
neither the Canadian or BC governments have the legal or moral authority to
govern.
Here at SFPIRG, we are working towards better understanding how we can
support Indigenous sovereignty as most of us are settlers on this land.
