*ABORIGINAL EVALUATION/RESEARCH ASSISTANT*

McCreary Centre Society is seeking to employ an *Aboriginal
Evaluation/Research Assistant* to work on several McCreary research and
evaluation projects.****
** **
Initially, the focus will be on conducting analyses from a longitudinal
evaluation of Aboriginal youth’s experience in alternative to custody
programs, and on collecting and analyzing new data through interviews,
surveys and focus groups with Aboriginal youth who are experiencing sexual
exploitation.****
** **
Working with McCreary’s Director of Evaluation, the successful candidate
will produce a “user-friendly” report that will be used to assist in the
planning of policies and programs for Aboriginal young people in BC. ****
** **
Duties will include:****
· Analyzing data using SPSS for Windows****
· Conducting focus group and interviews with youth and care givers****
· Assisting in coordinating the Aboriginal Advisory Committee ****
· Assisting in the preparation of “community friendly” reports****
** **
Skills & Qualifications
· Knowledge of Aboriginal history and culture is essential ****
· Experience working with SPSS for Windows ****
· Experience of facilitating focus groups or other group sessions****
· Experience working as a Research Assistant preferred ****
· Able to work independently and as part of a team ****
· Interest in youth issues and research ****
· University coursework in health or social science research ****

*Term*: 9 months at approx 25 hrs per week ****
(May be extended if additional funding secured)****

*Pay: *$17 per hour (plus Group MSP) **

*Preference will be given to qualified Aboriginal candidates*
