Hi WAM!

The most beautiful thing happened to me today. I was sitting in a
coffeeshop out here in the burbs (of unceded Coast Salish lands), and
a lovely young woman named Alex (hi!!) came up and introduced herself.
I felt so honoured to meet her and we shared our passion for WAM!,
feminism, and rockin the suburbs.

This moment reminded me of what WAM! is essentially about - bringing
together all kinds of different sorts of folks, those who question the
dominant narratives fed to us, and creating a space where we can
discuss/provoke/encourage/nurture one another.

For these reasons I am really looking forward to the upcoming WAM!
community conference in March. Obviously we all share this listserv,
and have great e-discussions, but nothing beats face-to-face,
one-on-one consciousness raising (a toast to 70s-feminism!). I cannot
wait to meet many of you next month and share our ideas and
experiences.

So, that's my little heart-warming message for this weekend. As the
conference nears, please do let us know how to make the event more
accessible, and I personally promise to ensure the event is
low-barrier and flexible, meeting the needs of the community WAM!van
serves. I think this is a sentiment shared by the WAM!core organizing
collective.

Have a wonderful weekend
Meenakshi
