*SFPIRG Free Coffee Tuesdays*

Free Coffee (and tea too!) every Tuesday in the SFPIRG lounge. TC326. in
the Rotunda. The coffee is organic and direct fair trade. Bring your own
mug. A great opportunity to come by, hang out and get to know a bit more

*Anti-Oppression Working Group*
*Every Wednesday, starting February 1, 2012*

Place: SFPIRG Lounge, TC 326 in the Rotunda, SFU Burnaby
SFPIRG's Anti-Oppression Working Group will restart their weekly meetings
on Wed. February 1st. Come and join us to discuss topics like, What is
oppression? What can I do to stop it? How do I be an ally? This semester,
the group will also begin working on some exciting anti-oppression
campaigns. We welcome your voice! For more information, contact

*Violence Against Survival Sex Workers
**Tues. February 7, 2012*

Place: SFPIRG Lounge, TC 326 in the Rotunda, SFU Burnaby
Following up on the "Sex Trade, Social Justice & You" talk and workshop on
January 26th, you are invited to attend an informal discussion on violence
against survival sex workers. The event will be facilitated by Jennifer
Allan and Kalamity Hildebrandt. Jennifer is a human rights activst, and is
the founder of Jen's Kitchen, an advocacy, outreach and food-relief program
for survival sex workers. Kalamity is the Research Coordinator at SFPIRG
and was in the survival sex trade as a teenager. Just drop in to SFPIRG to
take part - TC326 in the Rotunda.
*SFPIRG is seeking a Volunteer Independent Electoral Officer *
*Deadline:. Fri. February 17**th, 2012** at noon*

SFPIRG will be putting out a call for nominations for folks interested in
sitting on the SFPIRG Board of Directors in mid-June. To run this process,
we are looking for an Electoral Officer who is responsible for overseeing
the nomination and electoral process (for the Board of Directors) in June
and July. The position involves 1- 5 hours a week of work in February and
March, with more work during the election period (if required) in late
April. *Qualifications: *Leadership Skills; Communication skills, able to
convey information clearly both orally and in writing; Integrity and
ability to respect process and confidentiality; Highly organized, able to
work independently; Commitment to social and environmental justice. An
honorarium of $200 will be given for the nominations period, and in the
case of elections, another $300 will be given. If you are interested,
please send your name, contact information, why you are interested in the
position and why you would make a good Electoral Officer to

*21st Annual Feb 14th Women’s Memorial March*
*Tue. February 14 , 2012*
*Time: noon, march at 1pm*
Place: Carnegie Community Centre Theatre, 401 Main Street (corner Hastings,
Vancouver)
The first women’s memorial march was held in 1991 in response to the murder
of a Coast Salish woman on Powell Street in Vancouver.Twenty one years
later, the women’s memorial march continues to honour the lives of missing
and murdered women. We will gather at noon at the Carnegie Community Centre
Theatre, where family members speak in remembrance. We ask the broader
public to join us at 1 pm, when the march takes to the streets and proceeds
through the Downtown Eastside, with stops to commemorate where women were
last seen or found; speeches by community activists at the police station;
a healing circle at Oppenheimer Park around 3 pm; and finally a community
feast at the Japanese Language Hall.
