Hello all,

We had our first DNFD coalition meeting as part of a member group's
weekly meeting today... We met from 12noon to 1:15pm with the Carnegie
Community Action Project weekly volunteers meeting.

I'll send out some more complete notes later, but the most urgent
thing is that we decided to change the focus on this coming week's
campaign meeting slightly... We will still do the second half of it as
an overall-condo-invasion information session (which Dave will do with
a map showing where all the projects are proposed), but instead of a
clip from a documentary about housing struggles in another city, we
decided to take advantage of the airing of the new reality TV show on
the Oprah channel, "Gastown Gamble," about Save On Meats. This show
paints a rosy picture of Save On Meats as helping the community and,
we thought, it could be a good time to take it on a tie in the
struggle against cultural gentrification and the dominance of street
and storefront life by high income restaurants, boutiques, and art
galleries to the condo invasion.

So this campaign meeting will be this Thursday, 2:30pm at the Carnegie
theatre.

I have attached a jpeg and a pdf of a draft poster I put together for
this event. I'm trying to get out of town for the weekend so I may not
be able to respond until to edit suggestions until Sunday night or
Monday morning.
