*December 14, 2012*

As the days darken, we're looking back on an incredible building year for
WAM!, and setting plans in motion for 2013. Hope the season finds you well,
and that we'll be making change together in the new year.

   WAM!on,

Jaclyn Friedman, Executive Director
Ready to WAM! It Yourself?

It's pretty dark and cold in much of WAM!Nation these days, so here's
something to look forward to when the crocuses return: the fourth annual
WAM! It Yourself is heading your way in March.

WAM! It Yourself is a decentralized version of our annual Women, Action &
the Media (WAM!)
conference<http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=u8Inbc2Q2nPZRLEuoI0ZaEXpu0RbM3ET>.
For the fourth year in a row, instead of everyone who cares about gender
justice in media gathering in one place for WAM!,
WAM! can happen exactly where you are.

Want to help make WAM! It Yourself happen? Answer the 2013 Call for
Proposals now!<http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=sL%2FQp9It8LyQ4vYQC9TnUUXpu0RbM3ET>

WAM!Auction = WIN

Y'all never cease to amaze me. In just 9 days, by the graces of 39 item
donors and 150 bidders, we raised over $10,000 for WAM!'s work toward
gender justice in
media<http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=gJlh7go4Ivhu0A8Q5Jyyf7urXm%2Fj4osR>.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but given the size of our annual budget?
That's a huge deal. We owe a big WAM!my thanks to everyone who bid,
donated, or helped spread the word.

Of course, it didn't happen without some drama. The flood of
vitriol<http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=%2BHLBoZ%2B38msKbRo4lmUHCUXpu0RbM3ET>sparked
by Sandra Fluke's participation forced us to end her item two days
early. But even that story had a happy ending, when winning bidder
RosieR<http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=B89rqc6Z0aXBpMfBkyAy7UXpu0RbM3ET>voluntarily
doubled her final bid to make up for the income we lost to
those right-wing trolls. We can do it, indeed!
