out of the University of Toronto, the Latin@ high school drop out rate is
as high as 40%! This means that many of our youth in Canada are not going
on to postsecondary education. What is behind this disturbing rate? What
lessons can be learned from Proyecto Latin@'s initial findings? What can we
do as a community to help Latin@ youth achieve participation and success in
schools here in Metro Vancouver? Keynote speakers Dr. Rubén
Gaztambide-Fernandez and Cristina Guerrero from the University of Toronto
will share their findings from their initial research and the implications
for Latin@ youth here in Metro Vancouver. This is a community-based

*Vancouver Earth Day Parade/ Celebration 2012 *
*Sun. Apr 22, 2012*
*Time: 11 am*
Place: Gathering at Commercial Drive at 11 am, Parade down Commercial Drive
to Grandview Park for Earth Day Celebration

To gather momentum for climate action by gathering Vancouverites (and
people from other cities!) to a fun, celebrative day of learning, inspiring
and raising awareness about a global climate crisis.

One of the things that we are currently working on is collecting 10,000
signatures for our petition to stop Enbridge and tankers from coming into
BC. As the issue of oil is becoming increasingly prominent in BC, we hope
that you will support us in our opposition to these destructive projects.
Please sign and share our petition:
