Last year when I was working for the We Can End All Violence Against Women
campaign, I helped assemble their Youth Again Violence manual.
It addresses VAW generally, the root causes (gender inequality, sexist/rape
culture, power imbalances, etc) and the role the media plays. I wrote the
chapters on media and technology.
If you go here: wecanbc.ca/resources/youth and then download the section of
the manual called "Knowing It: Learn about the Issues" (click on that
title) you'll get a PDF of that section of the manual. Scroll through and
you'll see all the content about the media and then about technology, new
media and the internet (and how it intersects with VAW).
It's a really great resource. includes activities for students to do
(basically lesson plans to do in a school setting). the whole manual is a
great thing.
if i do say so myself :P
