Employment Opportunity - Event Assistant

We Can End All Violence against Women is a province-wide campaign which
seeks to challenge and
change the attitudes and beliefs that perpetuate violence against women.
This year We Can BC is
proud to co-present the Ghosts of Violence Ballet with SFU Woodwards’
Cultural Programs. This
unique production from the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada brings the
issue of domestic violence
against women into the spotlight. The performances in Vancouver will take
place on December 1, 2 and
3 at the Goldcorp Centre for the Arts.

We Can BC is looking for an energetic and experienced event assistant for
the Ghosts of Violence
Ballet in Vancouver. This is contract position starting on October 3 and
ending on December 9,
averaging 21 hours a week with the compensation of $3,150. The work schedule
is flexible with the
office space located in downtown Vancouver.

Responsibilities:
• Assisting with the development, coordination and execution of the
Vancouver shows, including
community engagement component of the program;
• Assisting in event fundraising and sponsorships management;
• Selling tickets among We Can members and supporters;
• Coordinating community presence at the event;
• Preparing event-related written and visual materials;
• Coordinating event volunteers;
• Providing overall event support as required.

Qualifications:
• High energy and motivation;
• Excellent interpersonal communication and problem solving skills;
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills;
• Excellent writing and presentation skills;
• Experience in event planning and ticket sales;
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a small team, and to work
independently;
• Experience working in a community, arts or/and non-profit setting;
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, experience in graphic
design and/or video is
an asset;
• Volunteer coordination experience is an asset.
