Hello everyone,

Just a reminder that there are two special events happening as part of the
Radio Training and Skills weekend - one on Saturday and one on Sunday. You
do not need to register for these - just show up.

Human Rights Talk with lawyer Karen Truscott

SFU Harbour Centre, 515 West Hastings Street / Segal Centre Rm 1420

Following an introductory presentation by Karen Truscott, participants will
have an opportunity to explore the ways in which community media can bridge
the gap in human rights programming and coverage.

Karen Truscott has worked as legal counsel at the Department of Justice
(Government of Canada) in Vancouver since 1991. She is currently a Board
member of the Vancouver Branch of the United Nations Association in Canada.
Karen also serves as a regional member of the General Council for the
Association of Justice Counsel and acts as the representative for the
Mission & Service Fund of the United Church of Canada for the University
Hill congregation.

*CFRO Vancouver Soundwalk Led by Vincent Andrisani*

Sunday November 27th, 9am – 10am.
Meet at 360 Columbia Street (one block north of Hastings).
The walk will take place rain or shine, so please dress appropriately for
the weather.

A Soundwalk is a silent group walk, led along a planned route, with the
intent of experiencing a location’s ambiance and underlying rhythms.
It offers the opportunity for its participants to actively listen to the
complex orchestration that the environment is composing at all times.


Using Vancouver Co-Op radio as a starting point, this morning soundwalk
aims to explore the acoustic environments surrounding the station and into
Gastown, and will conclude with a brief discussion once we arrive at SFU
Harbour Centre.
