*Please join us for an informal and intimate discussion on the implications
of anti-queer violence and anti-homosexual legislation, locally and
globally. Moses Okello, from the Refugee Law Project, will be present to
talk about the recent battle over the Anti-Homosexuality Bill in Uganda and
answer questions regarding what researchers and activists can do for sexual
minorities living in Uganda and abroad. We hope to open the forum to other
activists, researchers and concerned individuals so that everyone can share
their experiences and insights on preventing anti-queer violence and
supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer communities here
and abroad.*

*The Refugee Law Project (RLP) seeks to ensure fundamental human rights for
all asylum seekers, refugees, and internally displaced persons within
Uganda. In March 2011, the Refugee Law Project and Uganda’s Civil Society
Coalition on Human Rights & Constitutional Law produced a new documentary on
LGBTI asylum-seeking called "Getting Out". The RLP continues to be a strong
voice against  the Anti-Homosexuality Bill in Uganda which would make
certain acts of homosexuality punishable by death and criminalized the
“promotion of homosexuality."*
