Meyer

*Greetings from Upheaval Productions!*
*Here's the latest: *
In between larger projects we're trying to keep busy with a range of work,
including *a new video interview series* that's just beginning. The first
four have been done over the past few months by David Zlutnick and are
available to view through the links below, and additionally on our
website<http://www.upheavalproductions.com/>
.
*"Zionism Has Nothing to do With
Judaism"<http://www.upheavalproductions.com/articles/21>
--*
The first interview was with* Hajo Meyer*, a Holocaust survivor and
anti-Zionist activist. Earlier this year he was on a speaking tour
titled "Never
Again For Anyone <http://www.neveragainforanyone.com/>," sharing his
experiences of surviving Auschwitz and his perceptions of Zionism and the
Israeli occupation of Palestinian land. In the interview he discusses his
views of the antagonistic relationship between Zionism and Judaism. You can
view the video and also read a transcript
here<http://www.upheavalproductions.com/articles/21>
.
*The Eros Effect and the Arab
Uprisings<http://www.upheavalproductions.com/articles/22>
--*
Next we had the privilege of sitting down with *George Katsiaficas*--professor,
sociologist, author, and activist. He teaches at the Wentworth Institute of
Technology and specializes in social movements, Asian politics, U.S. foreign
policy, and comparative and historical studies. He has written
extensively<http://www.eroseffect.com/>on popular social uprisings in
various regions and historical moments.
During the interview Katsiaficas is asked to comment on the Arab uprisings,
placing them in a greater context of social transformation. You can view the
video and also read a transcript
here<http://www.upheavalproductions.com/articles/22>
.
*Hope in Afghanistan <http://www.upheavalproductions.com/articles/24>--*
The third installment of the series is a conversation with *Malalai Joya*, an
Afghan activist, author, and former politician. She served as an elected
parliamentary member of the National Assembly of Afghanistan, until she was
expelled for denouncing other members as warlords and war criminals. She has
been a vocal critic <http://www.malalaijoya.com/> of both the US/NATO
occupation
and the Karzai government, as well as the Taliban and Islamic
fundamentalists. Joya speaks about the US occupation, the inspiration of the
Arab uprisings, and the Afghan social movements in her interview. You can
view the video and also read a transcript
here<http://www.upheavalproductions.com/articles/24>
.
*War on the Border* <http://www.upheavalproductions.com/articles/25>--
And most recently we interviewed Charles Bowden, the acclaimed author and
journalist whose work has largely focused on the US/Mexico Border region.
His most recent writing has especially centered on the Mexican Drug War and
the border city of Ciudad Juárez, such as his acclaimed book *Murder City:
Ciudad Juárez and the Global Economy's New Killing
Fields*<http://www.nationbooks.org/book/203/Murder%20City>.
In Bowden's responses he argues the extreme violence seen in Mexico is a
sign of a deeper societal disintegration resulting from governmental
corruption, failed economic policies, and the War on Drugs. You can view the
video and also read a transcript
here<http://www.upheavalproductions.com/articles/25>
.
We hope to have more interviews and other types of short videos for you to
view in the coming months as we begin to move forward on larger ideas
hopefully to come to fruition in the near future. In the meantime, we're
still promoting *Occupation Has No
Future<http://www.upheavalproductions.com/articles/17/occupation-has-no-future-militarism-resistance-in-israel-palestine>
* and getting that film out there as much as possible. It's been screening
across the US and even a bit internationally over the past several months
with more screenings taking place over the summer. It's also had the honor
of being included in a few film festivals and is being considered at
numerous others, with most decisions forthcoming.
And also remember that DVDs are currently
available<http://www.upheavalproductions.com/articles/5/purchase-dvds>--of
*OHNF* and also some of our past documentaries. All funds go back into our
work and to future projects, so if you like what we do, please consider
supporting us through a purchase or
donation<https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_flow&SESSION=aJN9412VCNmSvFEpafzhbZbj0i8aa8PkkdUWmpY_OA-PacnOdtkshltUGFa&dispatch=5885d80a13c0db1f8e263663d3faee8d5863a909c4bb5aee2fcbfe698ea9bfbc>
!
That's all for now. Till next time!
