Members, and additional roles in communities.

Past participants have shared:* “It was the most engaging, inspiring and
incredible training. Full of fun, learning and wonderful relationships
being built*.”

or groups was incredibly beneficial. Learning to let my guard down and be
able to utilize insights and experiences from other people despite them not
being in the same demographic population as I am in.”*

*[I feel] “A new sense of belonging and purpose. I don't feel as much as an
outsider, (I'm actually teary eyed writing this).”*

*Workshop Details:*

*Safety and Respect in Group Gatherings *

PAN is committed to creating a safe and respectful environment at all of
our events whether virtual or in-person. We recognize that people bring
different strengths and experiences to events, and ask that all
participants review and follow PAN Group Guidelines
<https://paninbc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2023/07/PAN-Group-Guidelines-and-responsibilities-final-2023.pdf>so
we may create a culturally safe community space together.
Respiratory health at in-person events

PAN staff, contractors and volunteers will wear a mask during in-person
events (except when eating or drinking) to minimize risk of exposure to
COVID or other respiratory illnesses. This is to support the health,
safety, and comfort of attendees, especially the most vulnerable and those
who are immunocompromised.

We recognize that COVID symptoms may be minor and go unnoticed, and masks
continue to be a layer of protection
<http://www.bccdc.ca/health-info/diseases-conditions/covid-19/prevention-risks>
to
help control COVID’s spread. We know that COVID infection can be resolved
within a week, but for some it can also lead to complications and long
COVID, so we are taking this approach.

Participants and guests at our in person events are encouraged to wear
masks and we will make those available along with hand sanitizer.

A staff member or attendee that is experiencing any symptoms of illness
(fever, chills, respiratory symptoms) is asked to stay home or leave the
event to protect the community, especially those who may be
immune-compromised.

We continue to strongly encourage people to be vaccinated for COVID-19
<https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/vaccine/register> and get
ongoing boosters as suggested by public health guidance
<https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/covid-19/vaccine/booster>.

Please note that for any of our in-person events, we may have to make
changes to these plans based on current public health conditions at the
time, and the safety of all.

Perhaps not everyone is ready or able for an in-person training. For BC
residents and participants outside of BC we will be hosting a three
week *online
Core training* in *February 2024*, so stay tuned for more details. We look
forward to seeing you at a PLDI online or future in-person training.
