Hi Margarite,
No problem! Please see below for information to send to the Viva listserv
and Southern Gulf Islands AIDS Society. Thank you for offering to do so!
And yes, we do have a small budget for transportation to and from
study visits and the event. Perhaps if anyone travelling far wants to come
on Friday, then they can do a study visit and attend the event? Happy to
connect with anyone interested in the study or art event to see what we can
do!

Hello,
I hope you are doing well! The BC CARMA-CHIWOS Collaboration (BCC3) Study
<https://hivhearme.ca/> on *women's healthy aging* is recruiting in
Victoria this week, Feb 27th - Mar 3rd, and hosting a women's health and
art event on March 3rd.
*Women's Healthy Aging Study (BCC3) Participation:*
The goal of the BCC3 study is to better understand the complex interplay
between the cellular, clinical, and socio-structural factors that can
affect women’s healthy aging. These factors include viral infections (HIV,
hepatitis C, and herpes), hormones (estrogen, progesterone, and cortisol),
multiple chronic diagnoses, and personal lived experiences, including
adverse childhood experiences, reproductive and sexual health, stigma,
violence, social support, and resilience. We are recruiting women living
with and without HIV to participate.
Participation includes two study visits:
- The *first visit *will be in person and will include:
- Body measurements: height, weight, blood pressure, and waist
circumference.
- Sample collection: blood sample, mouth swab, urine sample, an
optional hair sample (for stress test), and an optional rectal swab (for
microbiome test). Additional blood testing for hormones is
required if you
are menstruating and not taking any hormones/hormonal contraception
- Questionnaire, which includes questions on demographics, medical
history, reproductive health, and substance use history.
- $50 honoraria is provided as a thank-you for completing the first
visit
- The *second visit *will be either online, in person, or over the
phone and will include:
- A continuation of the questionnaire on social determinants of
health, social support, sexual health, experience of stigma and violence,
sleep, resilience, etc.
- *Must be completed within one month of the first visit*
- $40 honoraria is provided as a thank you for completing the second
visit
While we are in Victoria, we will be based out of Vancouver Island Persons
Living with HIV/AIDS Society (VPWAS), but typically we are based out of the
Oak Tree Clinic in BC Women's Hospital, Vancouver.
For more information and to participate, please contact *Amber at
amber.campbell at cw.bc.ca <amber.campbell at cw.bc.ca> or call or text
604-868-5075*. For more information, you can also check out our website at
www.hivhearme.ca and our video that explains the study and participation at
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhq9mCqnOf4
*Women's Health and Art Event:*
Join us for an evening of art and women's health! We are hosting an art
event on *Friday, March 3rd, from 2-5pm* at the Vancouver Island Persons
Living with HIV/AIDS Society (VPWAS), #205 - 1120 Yates St.
We will talk about women's health from findings from the BCC3 study,
do some art, and share some delicious food together. A catered meal will be
provided as well as $20 honoraria.
The event is open to all women living with HIV, whether you participate in
the BCC3 study or not.
Thank you for your interest! Please contact Amber if you have any questions
or would like to sign up for the BCC3 Study and/or the Art Event. If you
need assistance in transportation, please let us know and we can see what
we can do to support your travel.
We look forward to seeing you!
All the best,
Amber

Hi Amber,
I don't think I will go to Victoria this week since I just got back from
there last night! I went over to the United for Old Growth March and Rally
yesterday.
Once you have a schedule of events please send it to Penny (CC'd) and
myself- we can forward it out to our contacts.
Penny would be the best contact for Vancouver Island gals.
I can resend to the Viva listserv (I know, Peg must have my name connected
to Viva Women! It's not the first time she's sent everyone something meant
for me :)
Please keep the email basic -no attachments is best, the listserv can't
handle big files.
Also, I can forward the invitation to the women of the Southern Gulf
Islands AIDS Society (there are 6 of us)
Is there any funding to reimburse women for travel/ferry fares?
Thanks,
Margarite
