To:
Dear PLDI Grad,
You are receiving this e-mail as *Northern Health* (*Ashley Stoppler*) has
reached out to us again (*PAN & PLDI*) to pass this opportunity along to a *few
of our PLDI Grads* to see if they may be interested in helping on this
initiative which has an honorarium included for your time. (*So please
note this is not a PAN initiative but one through the Northern Health-
which we are happy to help spirit along). A couple of our Grads have worked
with them in the past – which was great and they would like them involved
earlier on in the process. (Please see eligibility in email below)
*From Ashley:*
*As Northern Health continues the to work toward the goals in the
provincial framework “From Hope to Health: Towards an AIDS-free
Generations”, we are seeking community-based organizations who are well
positioned to provide prevention, support, and/or care for individuals
living with, or at risk for HIV and Hepatitis C. The goal of this project
is to increase access to HIV and Hepatitis C services in northern
communities. By issuing a request for proposals to communities we aim *
*Our current contracts end in March 2023, so we are preparing to issue a
new Request for Proposals (RFP) so that non-profit community and First
Nations health organizations can apply for funding to provide programs and
services that are community driven and meet the needs of their specific
populations. When we last undertook this process, a previous PLDI
participant joined the committee that evaluated the proposals we received.
Her input was invaluable and for this round of RFPs, we would like to
involve people with lived experience with HIV and/or HCV much earlier in
the process. We are ready to draft our RFP that details the purpose of the
funding and the areas that we’d like to see receive focus. *
*The purpose of engaging patient partners is to include the views of
individuals with lived experience in identifying the key priorities that
should be described in the RFP, as well as to help evaluate the proposals
that are submitted. The role of the patient partner is as an equal
committee member in RFP development and decision making around funding
allocation.*
*Eligibility criteria:*
*Comfort in sharing your experiences;*
*Experience working in a small group;*
*Living with HIV or Hepatitis C*
*Access to telephone *
*Access to a computer is beneficial, but documents can be printed and
mailed if required*
*Current or past residence in either Northern Health or a rural/remote
community*
*Responsibilities:*
*RFP Development:*
*30-60 minute phone call in late September or early October with project
lead (Ashley) to go over scope of project*
*Teleconference with committee to discuss key priorities for RFP (October)*
*Independently review draft RFP (October)*
*Teleconference to finalize RFP (October)*
*Proposal Review:*
*Independently review proposals and score them using the tool provided
(late December/early January) (last time there were 9 proposals)*
*Teleconference with committee to discuss all of our scoring and select the
proposals we want to support (mid-January) (needed 4hrs last time)*
*Teleconference, if required, to make final decisions on successful
proposals (mid-January)*
*Within NH, we follow the CDC’s Peer Payment Guide. Participants would be
compensated at a rate of $25/hour, to a maximum of 20 hours.*
Happy to chat about this with you if you’d like any more information.
Have a great weekend,
