Hi PLDI Leaders, (*reminder- deadline to your network of peers to apply-
**Tuesday October 25, 2022 @ 4:00 PM.) *https://pldi.ca/pldi-form/
Please *share *this leadership learning opportunity along to a person
living with HIV who might not have yet taken our PLDI *Core Training “Who
am I as a Leader?”* this will be our first “in-person” Core Training being
held in over two years! Thanks for spreading the word!
*PAN-PLDI Core Leadership Training November 10-13, 2022* Just one person
can make a difference!
The Positive Leadership Development Institute (PLDI
<https://paninbc.ca/positive-leadership-development-institute-pldi/>)
exists with the purpose of supporting people who are living with HIV/AIDS
realize their leadership potential and increase their capacity to
participate meaningfully in community life.

Past PLDI graduates have gone on into leadership roles such as: Peer
Navigators, Peer Researchers, Peer Evaluators, Board Members, Ctee Members,
work and volunteer roles in community.
“It was so so valuable to be connected in a community of likeminded and
warm loving individuals. I hope to take these friendships and connections
with me to the end of my days.”
“A strong sense that I am a kick ass individual and have so much growing
and connecting to do. I can’t wait to do so much more in my HIV community.”
Core Leadership Training seeks to answer the question: “Who am I as a
Leader?”
*Training Dates:* Thursday November 10 – Sunday November 13 , 2022. Please
note this is a holiday weekend and the Remembrance Day stat holiday falls
during training.
*Training Location:* On this occasion will be in Vancouver at the Coast
Coal Harbour Vancouver Hotel
<https://www.coasthotels.com/coast-coal-harbour-vancouver-hotel-by-apa> on
the unceded traditional territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh, and
Musqueam First Nations. We have been with them twice before.

*The three main goals of the training are:*
• To identify personal values and philosophy
• To develop leadership skills and practices
• To gain community knowledge and awareness
* (This is achieved through fun interactive, reflective and partnered group
work throughout the weekend time together)*
*Who is eligible to attend?*
In order to attend, a person must be living with HIV/AIDS and a resident in
British Columbia. Applicants must also have the endorsement of a PAN member
agency <https://paninbc.ca/about/members/> or healthcare provider
practicing in BC *attesting to their HIV status*. PAN is committed to
ensuring diverse representation including women, BIPOC and Indigenous PLHIV.
*What is the fee?*
There is no registration fee for the Core training- *Who Am I as a Leader? *PAN
is very proud to have received funding from the Public Health Agency of
Canada (PHAC) to continue its work with the PLDI program.
*What is included?*
- All meals will be covered for participants, all accommodations will be
covered, transportation costs will be refunded for participants to aprox
$400 (*this may vary depending on location*).
- Everyone who is accepted for the training will have their own room
- Materials provided
- Hand sanitizer, sanitizing wipes and masks will be provided
- As this is our first time back for our *in-person Core Training*, out
of an abundance of caution we will not be at our usual local of Loon Lake,
but in downtown Vancouver at the beautiful Coast Coal Harbour Hotel. With
consideration for our participants and trainers, masks will be required. We
did this for the Communications Training in June and it went very well.
- We expect all participants to adhere to PAN Group Guidelines- review
now.

If you are not quite ready to meet up in person we will be holding our
adapted online Core Training in January 2023
Please note: unfortunately, this is not open to those who have already
taken PLDI Core Training- “Who am I as a Leader?” in the past
*COVID Considerations:*
As vaccinations have become widely available to British Columbians, the
overall risk of COVID-19 transmission is reduced. However, the virus may
still circulate, as will the viruses for other communicable diseases, such
as seasonal influenza, norovirus, and others.
Staff and any person attending a PAN in person event or meeting is required
to wear a mask. The mandatory masking requirement continues to be in place,
to ensure the health, safety, and comfort of all those who attend our
events, especially the most vulnerable and those who are immunocompromised.
See link here for more details- Fall 2022 PAN COVID update
<https://paninbc.ca/2022/09/14/fall-2022-pan-covid-update/>.
We strongly encourage participants to continue to get fully vaccinated and
to get boosters as they become available.
