(Re)conciliation
A core approach of PAN’s work is our commitment to ongoing learning, and we
centre this section in that commitment to see and challenge the harms in
ongoing colonialism. We recognize that the word reconciliation can be
problematic, because it implies there was a good relationship between
Indigenous and non-Indigenous people at some point in time, which isn’t the
case. After much discussion, we choose it because it's a recognizable term,
and hope that it connects people to the important work that needs to be
done.

adds to the growing body of evidence that pulse oximeters can be inaccurate
when measuring oxygen levels in people with dark skin tones. Researchers
analyzing pre-pandemic health data also find those measurements resulted in
patients of color receiving less supplemental oxygen than white patients
did.

A quarter of gay and bisexual men diagnosed with HIV in 2021 had used PrEP
at some time before their diagnosis, clinicians in Seattle report. This
number had hugely increased 2014, when it was only 2%. Furthermore, over
half of the men were diagnosed less than six months after stopping PrEP.
This echoes the findings of a large UK study which also showed sharp
increases in the percentage of newly diagnosed men with HIV who had
recently taken PrEP.
