The following is from Dr. Emmanuela Ojukwu @ UBC:
We are conducting a study to recruit ACB women living with HIV
to understand the impact of the pandemic on their quality of life.
*Study Title: Experiences of African, Caribbean and Black Women Living with
HIV During the COVID Pandemic: Impact of the Pandemic and Psychosocial
Vulnerabilities on Quality of Life.*
We are writing this email to invite women to participate in a research
study that is being carried out at the University of British Columbia. We
will appreciate it if you can circulate this email and the attached flyer
to African, Caribbean and Black Women (ACB) in British Columbia.
The objective of our study is to explore the perception of quality of life,
the associated factors which facilitate and debar quality of life and the
overall (social, psychological, economic, among others) *impact of the
COVID-19 pandemic on quality of life* for ACB women living with HIV (WLWH)
in *British Columbia*.
Interested women, who meet the following criteria, are welcome to contact
us. Individuals who are:
1) Women (transgender or cisgender)
2) 16 years and above
3) Self-identify as African, Caribbean or Black
4) Diagnosed and living with HIV at least 3 months before the COVID
pandemic in January 2020
5) Are English-speaking
6) Live in British Columbia
7) Able to provide informed consent
All research activities will take place in-person or remotely, per
participant’s preference. Each interview will be one-to-one and will last
approximately 1-1.5 hours. In-person interviews will occur in British
Columbia mainland, and online interviews will occur via zoom. The
interviews will be conducted by the research team members and staff who
have been trained and have experiences working with racialized populations
and women living with HIV.
Participants will be awarded for $40 honorarium in recognition of their
time and commitment.
