Hi

I sent something out a few weeks ago — last year — doesn’t that sound strange? Did you see it? I know a few women responded.

Perhaps some of you were waiting to reply to see what the new year brought. Not much relief from Covid for sure.

Victoria is still planning to host a careful opportunity for women to get together and be creative. The project is part of the HIV in my Day research which has been looking at people who lived through the early years of HIV. Our aim is to broaden the research on women’s role in the early days. And we have funding for travel expenses.

If you identify as a woman and have had experience with HIV that has been lengthy, and you would like to create something that shares your story, please be in touch with me Peggy Frank pegfrank at telus.net <mailto:pegfrank at telus.net> or Dr Leah Tidey leahtidey at gmail.com <mailto:leahtidey at gmail.com>. We will send you a zoom link to our planning session this Friday, January 7th. We would especially love to include the stories of women who feel they live rurally or are isolated.

Know that we are one big HIV+ family, sisters. Thank you for all the gifts you give me and knowledge that you so generously share.

Respectfully, peg

I am privileged and honoured to be writing to you from sxʷeŋxʷəŋ təŋəxʷ - pronounced s-hweng hw-ung tongue-oo-hw, - the Lekwungen name for James Bay.
sxʷeŋxʷəŋ təŋəxʷ is part of the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations unceded traditional territory.
