“Conversion therapy” includes practices that try to change sexual
attraction to people of the same gender (eg, felt identity as lesbian, gay,
bisexual, queer, etc.) or change gender identities that are different from
sex assigned at birth (eg, transgender, including non-binary). These
include practices that discourage or delay the adoption of gender
identities or gender expressions that are different from one's sex assigned
at birth (including practices that aim to help someone become more
“accepting of one's masculinity or femininity”). Researchers at Simon
Fraser University, the University of British Columbia, and University of
Victoria want to learn from conversion therapy survivors about how we can
best support survivors in meeting their social, mental, emotional, and
physical health-related needs.

Limited population data exists about the experiences of trans and
non-binary sexual minority people in Canada. In order to help bridge this
knowledge gap, the Community-Based Research Centre (CBRC) produced a report
on trans and non-binary participants from the Sex Now 2018 survey to
highlight similarities and differences across three groups: transgender
(trans), non-binary, and cisgender (cis) participants.

outdoor space where staying a couple of metres apart is challenging — "even
if you're on the patio, until you have to eat and drink, and then putting
it back on afterwards," he said. "We just have get people to make it a
