Hi Viva Women,
As past Chair of the board of Positive Living I had the honour of being on the board of Positive Living for over 5 years. It was amazing to learn how the organization is run and all the fun I had with peers, staff, and engaging with the public. I found my time on the board rewarding and I learned so much from so many. I echo what Charlene says and I also encourage you to apply. I am no longer on the board of Positive Living as I am employed by PL as a peer navigator, I do sit on the board of AIDS Vancouver and the Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network.
As Charlene said we can make a difference.
Wela'lin (Thank-you)
Valerie

Hello ladies Charlene here, I’ve had the pleasure and honour of being on the board of PLBC.I have always found it exciting to be involved with an organization that is accountable to myself and my peers. The board at PLBC needs to be diverse to make sure the organization continues to thrive and be involved in the HIV world stage.
My time was great and I have always used go to meetings on my computer as I live in Victoria.
Please consider become a board member and you will learn so much about how governments and non profits and health care work in Canada. And how we as Poz people can really make a difference.
Hope I didn’t go on to much but I take my role as a Poz person very seriously and am on the board of Vancouver Island PErsons with AIDS Society I also on the VIVA executive so my plate is a bit full right now.

Hi everyone:
Just a short note, the date for acceptance of nominations has been changed to August 6 instead of July 26. There is a new ED of Positive Living: Victor Elkins. Victor was previously the President of the Hospital Employees Union and he is keen to make a difference. At Positive Living members of the Board used to also have to be on two Standing Committees. This has changed and it is expected that there will be less time involved than before. In addition, the Board is using GoToMeeting to engage with Board members who are out of the area.
Volunteering is always rewarding.

Hi Viva women,
The deadline is fast approaching for nominations to the board of directors for Positive Living Society. Nomination Forms must be in no later than 5:00 p.m. July 26th. There are 6 spaces to be filled.
It would be wonderful (essential really) for more women to join the board so we have a voice and representation at that level of the Society.
If you have a little time and/or need something meaningful to do please consider stepping up and giving it a try.
And a HUGE THANK YOU to all the current and past women who have been on the board.
all the best,
Margarite
