Great topic Denise! Hope you had a wonderful holiday season.

I have come across a few personally and helping others:

Emergency department:

After disclosing her HIV status the first question asked to a marginalized
50 something women from DTES. When did you last use? She was in recovery.

Whispering between doctors in front of patients in room before talking to
patient.

Pharmacy med pick up - overall too many questions that need not be
discussed with RX , really between Dr. And patient. Occasionally reports of
"giving me a hassle picking up my meds, instead of saying, glad to see you
got your meds...the message can be mixed and often lead to getting pissed
off enough to stop taking meds"...honey approach instead of vinegar goes a
long way.

Personally, my experience has been stellar for the most part...how much
does that have to do with being a white privledged women with no IDU
background?...worth asking. I seem to get amazing treatment compared to
many I know. Am extremely grateful and aware.

Hope that helps.

Hope you're doing great Denise,
Big hugs,
Shelly
