HIV Endgame 3: Breakthrough Initiatives

The HIV Endgame 3: Breakthrough Initiatives conference is happening *December
6-7*, 2018 at the InterContinental Toronto Centre (225 Front St. West),
where attendees will learn more about evidence-based interventions and
approaches to HIV care that build on Ontario’s strengths. We are pleased to
announce two of our closing keynotes,* Diane Smylie* and *Dr Arjumand
Siddiqi* who will present on the impact of the racialization of healthcare
and interventions to alleviate its impact on individual health, with a
particular focus on ACB and Indigenous peoples for our plenary session
on *Structural
Racism and Stigma in Healthcare*.

*Diane Smylie *is the Provincial Director, Ontario Indigenous Cultural
Safety Program with the Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre
(SOAHAC) and Indigenous Primary Health Care Council (IPHCC). She is a Red
River Métis Mother, Partner, Auntie and Community Member, she has a strong
commitment to Indigenous health equity and social justice that she brings
to her work.

*Dr Arjumand Siddiqi *is the Canada Research Chair in Population Health
Equity and Associate Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health,
University of Toronto, where she also holds appointments in the Department
of Paediatrics, Faculty of Medicine and the Hospital For Sick Children, as
well as at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North
Carolina, Chapel Hill. Dr Siddiqi is interested in understanding how social
conditions produce and resolve inequities in population health and human
development across the lifespan.

HIV Endgame 3: Primary Care Day
A case-based HIV workshop for the primary care practitioner: practical
knowledge and advice.
*Learning Objectives*



Recognize patients at risk for HIV, and build confidence in managing those
patients appropriate for PrEP or PEP.

Care for the “occasional” HIV patient: from necessary investigations and
interpreting.

Issues related to HIV care that include those specific to HIV+ women,
substance use, and mental health.
