[Viva] Women's Empowerment Forum October 2018

To those of you who attended the Empowerment Forum and the session on
speaking in public, I promised to send you a PowerPoint of the session's
flip chart pages.  I will be making these up once I change my PowerPoint
program - hopefully this month.

In the meantime, I thought I would send you two videos. They are of World
Toastmasters Championship Winners.  One is from this year - Ramona, and the
other, Dananjaya, is from a previous year.  During these videos, you may
want to ask yourself these questions:

1.  How many filler words do you hear (err, um, ah, uh, so, and?)
2.  Do they use questions to engage the audience?
3.  Do they use stories to engage?
4.  Do they use dialogue (not narration)
5.  Can you hear pauses for effect?
6.  What kind of body movement do they have to reinforce what they are
saying?
7.  How do they move about the stage?
8.  Who are the heroes in each presentation?
9.  Is there a moment of change or realization in their talk?
10. Do they have a takeaway and a memorable saying to help the audience
remember them?
