Thank you for the kind words, Anne... Just trying to do the right thing for the community; while suppressing my true inner desire to see him fry as a means of feeling redeemed for the 15 years of abuse, humiliation, and isolation.
I can only pray for this chapter to be closed.
Hugs,
Shannon

Shannon you are such a fkn champ. You were totally dragged into this mess and while you could just hide you are instead doing the good work. I'm sorry you have to go through this, but you are such an amazing woman and you can do it! It will all be over sooner or later! Jezus H christ!

I was contacted by this reporter a couple of weeks ago after I was made aware from Crown that Brian's charges were being terminated. Trust me, before I spoke with Jon Woodward, this story was headed down a very aidsphobic path, I was actually surprised to see it so as good as it came out. I did my best to educate him and to ask him to focus on more of the good news story that people with a low viral load were virtually uninfectious and to use this opportunity to reduce stigma and discrimination and bring some greater good to the world. I gave him names to contact and begged him not to quote me or my family but to get the right medical information to bring this to the public's attention. Having a quote from one of the complainants, I believe, made the story more rounded to highlight the attitudes which still exist amongst people in regards to realistic possibility of transmission.

Also.. a lesson is that we are all responsible for our own bodies (except in assault cases, abuse, cohersion) and this blame game has to stop when there is no chance of infection, education is the key - by cutting off funds to community groups, education will suffer. Highlighting the woman's fear before the facts in this interview was irresponsible.

I totally agree Anne. Even now they don't show the face of the person infected and freely show Brian's which affects his previous family. It's not like the press weren't aware of the medication and it's improvements.. they can research before scaring people and increasing stigma. It's terrible reporting.

Jeez what a ride. Brian's pretty out there but he is actually doing it, changing the law and forcing them to wake up about treatment as prevention. I do feel bad for the women but there is so much there to it. Scaring people because they are ignorant to facts shouldn't be against the law. Just goes to show that there needs to me a shift in media bias in these stories - it sounds like the journalists are aidsphobic as well or are just playing into the fears of the general public in order to get readership. Write letters to the newspapers, editors, and journalists when you see biased and fear-mongering articles! This shit has to stop.
