Hello ViVA women,
I got in touch with the PWN board to find out more about the upcoming
meeting next Tuesday. I spoke to two board members and found out a few
things I want to share.
1. Please come to the meeting !! This is going to be an opportunity
to learn what has happened, ask questions and have some input into what the
next steps are as the organization closes.
2. The organization will still exist for a few more months and if
members want an event to provide more closure, with photo viewing and shared
memories etc that can happen but we need to organize it,. If there is
enough interest, PWN will offer the space and some funding for food etc.
3. The board wants direction /ideas from women on what to do with
some of the organization's stuff - research posters, art etc etc
4. The board of PWN has worked hard to maintain a good relationship
with the provincial funders (Provincial Health Services Authority- PHSA).
The PWN board seems genuinely committed to hearing from members in terms of
recommendations for future services. There WILL still be some Provincial
funding hopefully after a needs assessment (which needless to say MUST be
guided by positive women! ). The PWN board wants to support positive women
in getting what they need, whether that's through ViVA and/or possibly
other organizations. There is much opportunity here as Viva members have
already mentioned in emails last week. Let's make sure that we, as positive
women lead the way!
I'm feeling more optimistic about the changes and that it will be an
opportunity for US to revitalize and reinvent services and support for
women with HIV in BC
The Special General Meeting is next Tuesday May 30th at 5 pm at PWN on the
6th floor. There will be some food/coffee/tea provided. Members can also
phone in if you can't make it in person.
Thanks and hope to see you awesome women there ! Kath
