Thanks so much for the update Margarite, and great work you gals who
attended! I am going to just do a point form initial response and
thoughts...

   - I am really pleased that PLBC is behind ViVA and will be in a position
to actually offer more in terms of space and focus in the new building -
   great news
   - There is a meeting for PWN members on May 30th I believe for women who
want some information/closure/voices heard for those interested. An email
was sent out by PWN early last week I believe...if someone still has it
maybe they could post on ViVA. There is a chance to at the very least have
a final voice at this meeting...I think Ross has a tendency sometimes to
stir the pot a little post decision, so, its a little late, but, none the
less, an opportunity to speak is still available for those interested...
   - I am considering running for a Board position, although due to my
history as staff and currently on long term disability I may not be
eligible... I have not made a definitive decision, but am thinking about
   it...
   - I am interested in being on a standing committee, again, if possible
   in my circumstances
   - I am interested in writing for the magazine from time to time,
however, more importantly, I would really like to see a ViVA women on the
editorial board for the magazine...Then we would have considerable more
power to pitch our stories and truly have a voice into content of the
   magazine
   - As far as fund raising and grant writing goes, perhaps at this May
30th meeting at PWN, some information on potential funders,( who's didn't
fund, why and criteria for funding could be accessed from staff left
standing since they have been at the brunt end of cutbacks) I personally
want to know what happened from a three month reassessment and
reorganization to shutting their doors completely. If nothing else I will
attempt to get possible funding sources and contacts for women's program
funding in genera. I have spoken to a few women who have expressed interest
in attending, hope to see some of you there...I will be in attendance
   - Final note, let's remember ViVA has a 5 year history with PLBC and
other than the opportunity to write for the magazine and a poorly staff
supported sub committee, we have had no other concrete support. I agree
Margarite, the new building presents a wonderful opportunity, to
renegotiate ViVA within PLBC...lets just make sure this opportunity is made
the very most of, more than just a space for women, (which we shouldn't
have to insist on considering their, PLBC mandate) a place where ViVA can
live too, with our mandate, agenda and vision

Okay, hope thats not too ranty, just my thoughts...

p.s. I am doing a presentation on my volunteer trip to Africa tomorrow at
the Oak Tree Support Group meeting...fabulous pictures, stories from pos
women, and a reality check on how truly privileged we are in Canada. Its
from 11 - 1 pm. Lunch included. Hope to see some of you there!
