FYI the minutes of the meeting are being mailed to members very soon and will also include correspondence from Positive living BC with info on potential future women specific services. Shelley I'm glad you will be meeting with Charisse- and I think your anger is SO valid!Kath

Hello all vivacious ViVA women!
Thanks Kath! I have made an appointment to see Charisse next week and hope to better express my views with less emotion. I plan on writing a letter to the board so that they will perhaps appreciate where some of my personal frustration with this "last attempt to be heard" meeting stems from. In the meeting, I came from an emotional place for all the women that couldn't be at the meeting and who truly do not have a place to go as they choose not to go to PLBC or Friends for Life. I have frustration with when the time line of shutting the doors came and, could we have been informed earlier, and, why didn't that happen? Why, when the decision was already made by the board to close the doors are we being asked now how to proceed? It seems to me rather obligatory. The only remaining question is how to spend the remaining money. And, what is the criteria for spending that money? That may have all been discussed after I left the meeting, some of you in attendance may already know this. I will talk to Charisse in person next week and hopefully will have a better understanding of some of these loose ends in my mind. I will as well request minutes to review if available.
I personally, will strongly recommend that any and all remaining funding be directed solely to Women's Programming, with approval to spend and determine programming the responsibility of the sub committee that will be formed in the new building at PLBC, with ViVA voice(s) on that committee. What that programming is or how it rolls out depends on hearing from as many women as possible and organizing an effective voice to be heard at PLBC.
There are other questions I have that I believe will be better answered one on one and I hope to get some of these answers when I meet with Charisse. Thanks everyone for listening to my views. Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend! Thank you to all the women in attendance that night and a big hug out to Val for her great hugging skills!
