[Viva] support and strength

Dear ViVA sisters,

Many of you may be aware of the upsetting case underway in Abbotsford involving a man living with HIV who is being charged with HIV non-disclosure. The media coverage of this case has been extraordinarily damaging and is causing a great deal of harm to the man’s family, some of whom are members of our community.

I understand how this case can be triggering for many of us. At this time, however, we are focused on offering support and strength to the family.

As we no longer have PWN as a community resource, the responsibility of providing support for the family is largely being taken up by individual members of our community and their personal support networks. If any of you have experience and/or resources to support affected family members through such a public case, please be in touch with me.   valerien at positivelivingbc.org

This is emotionally and spiritually difficult ground and I am so grateful for this strong community of women and our allies.
