Hello ladies this is my 2 cents on travel insurance. I agree with Deanna one doesnt need to disclose your status for travel insurance. Even if you're going into a country that says that Poz people aren't allowed.
I've been extremely fortunate in the last 22 years been poz to travel all over the world and I've never let any of those things stop me from traveling into the country I chose to explore. One can get a letter from your doctor or clinic and it's just general saying that you have a chronic condition so if you're ever get stopped or questioned anywhere about your medication you have a letter to back up your meds. If they need further info there is a contact # information they can call, of course the clinic or doctor would never disclose your status. In all the years I've traveled I've never had to use the letter even going through the USA many times when hiv-positive people were not allowed to travel in the USA. I believe it also helps being a woman.... especially back in the day when it was concidered a gay disease.
When you travel one can ask pharmacist to get medications put into travel bottles with labels on them. That way they dont have the HIV information on the boxes.
And when it comes to travel insurance here are a few different suggestions that I've used in the past that have the best price....PC insurance been the cheapest and Nomad has best coverage for extreme excursions.
- PC insurance I do not believe you need to have a PC credit card to use their insurance 1 866 644-6814. Website. pcinsurance.ca/travel coverageThey have unlimited coverage so there's not a dollar amount restriction...there's no deductible fees up front that you need to pay before getting access or using it.under 59 unlimited over 60 years of age 10 million..... does say for 60 over need to fill out a medical form which I don't know what they'll be asking on that.
A lot of other insurance places only cover you for 1 and 2 million. It has always been my understanding with the insurance that as long as you are stabled and your condition is controlled 90 days before your leaving you're good to go.I've questioned them before on chronic conditions like cancer or heart conditions.
My past experience what I've been sick overseas and had to use the travel insurance it was mainly for doctors and medication and I got reimbursed. Majority of the times when one gets sick who can say whether it's directly related to your HIV or not I think that area is a little grey.
Bottom line is I've never had any problems.
These guys cover lots of the extras too like bicycling, mopeds and other Excursion activities... as long as they're from an organized reputable company.
Another company is called Nomad they're out of Australia. It cover 5 million Medical and they cover absolutely everything including bungee jumping. So if you're going on an adventure Excursion and doing some wild and wacky things like that one can also get coverage.
And yes depending on your credit card some of them do cover you for travel insurance for the first, might be 14 days, different for each credit card.
That''s my 2 cents...I hope its helpful 😍⛱💙Happy safe travels🛫🌎☮☯💷💶

Hi
I have always disclosed my status for travel insurance and been told that anything related to the HIV would not be covered, but then a broken leg or something else would be. Now I get it through my VISA as in similar to a master card for the first 30 days. love -peg

Visa does not cover poz people. Regular insurance doesn't either. So there's really no point of getting that!
As for travelling you can look up which countries don't let in poz folks. They are all middle eastern countries so don't worry about Europe.

If you get your ticket with some visas they over you but you would have to read online what they cover. MSP covers you in other countries for the same as it would cost in Canada. If you have Pacific Blue Cross they cover extra. It will also depend on where you go.
