[Viva] Criminalization of Non-Discclosure

Hi everyone,

I hope that you did something  today spread the spirit of International Women’s Day. There is so much to be done. Thanks everyone for taking on a piece of this puzzling world.

I wrote a message to Marjorie, the woman who was recently convicted of non-disclosure in Manitoba. I wanted her to know that she had sisters in BC that were also having trouble understanding this legal system, and its targetted focus on HIV, and how it is hurting women. I told her that she was brave, and asked her to look after herself. When I called to get the address of the Downtown Legal Office in Winnipeg (they will forward the letter), I was told that Marjorie was currently somewhat blessed to be on bail. I don’t know anything more than that and what was written in the Sun Newspaper - the artticle I forwarded.  

I wrote so that she knew she had support. I would be a mess if I were her so appreciated the importance of knowing that others care. It’s a bit difficult to write a letter to someone that I don’t know, but she could so easily be me. It feels ’not enough’, but also all that I can do today.
