Durban, South Africa. With the price reduction, the IAS is demonstrating
serious commitment to make this 21st AIDS conference as accessible as
possible.*

The Global Network of people living with HIV (GNP+), one of the civil
society co-organisers of the conference, praises the IAS for their brave
decision and serious effort. The reduction in registration fees comes in
addition to AIDS2016 having the largest scholarship programme ever.

The IAS’ commitment to making AIDS 2016 inclusive and accessible, comes at
a moment that civil society organisations involved in the HIV response are
suffering considerably from funding shortages. Support to civil society,
human rights programming and community networks of people living with HIV
is underfunded internationally and often ignored when it comes to domestic
financing. These elements and actors are however essential in realising the
international implementation of the WHO HIV treatment Guidelines and the
UNAIDS 90-90-90 target. AIDS2016 is crucial for civil society networks to
connect, exchange and step up our efforts to improve the lives of all
people living with HIV.
