2016 ICW Love Positive Women MailOut!

Hello ICW Members and Partners,

As many already know, the month of February marks a very special time of
year for women living with HIV, because for two full weeks we celebrate
LOVE POSITIVE WOMEN: Romance Starts at Home. The 2016 festivities will mark
the 4th year that the Love Positive Women (LPW) holiday has been celebrated
by women living with HIV and our allies, friends and partners in
communities all over the world. In 2015 there were over 84 individual and
organizational projects that touched the lives of tens of thousands of
women living with HIV all over the world! Love Positive Women events ranged
from children making art for their mothers in India, Indigenous women hand
beading hearts for mail exchange in Canada, New Zealand and Australia,
celebratory community dinners in Kenya, to global communications from many
partners such as World Health Organization, the International AIDS Society
and ICASO to name just a few.

In 2015, the Love Positive Women holiday from February 1st – 14th, was also
celebrated by the worldwide mailout of handmade LPW cards. Over 500
handmade cards were made by our partners such as Visual AIDS, Fire Island
Artist Residency, Winnipeg Gender Fest, Dieu Donne and added to university
and school curriculum to celebrate Love Positive Women. In 2016, we will
continue to work with our fabulous partners from years past and we are
looking for new groups to join in this exciting celebration and to LOVE
POSITIVE WOMEN. Anyone, organization and/or group are encouraged to host an
activity in this global event!

Everyone can participate by hosting a Love Positive Women activity but on
the honor system only women living with HIV are able to receive a LPW card
in the mail.
