Dear fabulous women of ICWNA:

This Sunday, February 1, 2015, marks the official beginning of LOVE
POSITIVE WOMEN (LPW): Romance Starts at Home! 2015! Although February 1
through February 14 are the official dates of the campaign, we hope that
everyone will carry the spirit of LPW all year round.

VALENTINES HANDMADE ESPECIALLY FOR YOU!

ICW, along with Visual AIDS have teamed up with Dieu Donne in New York, New
York to create a wonderful event making handmade valentines for WLHIV
throughout the world. Community members, artists, supporters and allies all
came together for this beautiful event. I attended this event and was
overwhelmed by the energy and outpouring of love from all the participants.

The event was such a success that the number of handmade valentines has
succeeded all expectations! We would LOVE to send one to you! If you would
like one sent to you, we need your consent. Please email your mailing
address to lovepositivewomen at gmail.com.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING FOR LPW?

We would would love you to share how you are celebrating Love Positive
Women. We would like to hear about any community or individual celebrations
you have planned. Are you have a lunch for WLHIV in your community? A
girlfriends' trip to the movies? Something special for you? Please share
your ideas to help inspire others!!

All my best and Love,

Karen

*ICW Calls for Acts of Solidarity and Acts of Kindness*

*January 6, 2015*

The International Community of Women Living with HIV (ICW) launches its
call to engage the world in acts of kindness and solidarity
with women living with HIV during their annual LOVE POSITIVE WOMEN: Romance
Starts at Home campaign which occurs between February 1 – 14th.

*Project Statement:*

LOVE POSITIVE WOMEN (LPW) is a project that uses social media to link local
grassroots gestures of love. Using Valentines Day as a backdrop, LPW
creates a platform for individuals and communities to engage in public and
private acts of love and caring for women living with HIV. Going beyond
romantic love to deep community love and social justice, LPW is call to
action. LPW is a response to the lack of attention and support and to make
commitments. It requires participants to spend time reflecting about how
they as either a woman living with HIV or an ally will commit
to lovingwomen living with HIV. Through action, change can be made to
fueling economies of love and compassion. Working from a place of strength,
LPW focuses on the idea of interconnectedness, relationship
building, loving oneself and loving ones community. By starting from a
place of love, within oneself there are endless ways that the negative
impacts that HIV has on women living with HIV can be lessened.

While LPW is active primarily between February 1st – 14th, its reminisce
remains as a symbol of how the world can be different.

It has been an annual event since 2012.

*The Call:*

Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone felt loved this Valentines Day? Even the
people that we didn’t know? This is why the International Community
of Women Living with HIV (ICW) created LOVE POSITIVE WOMEN: Romance Starts
at Home! This annual project is as a way for each of us to express and show
how a) we as women living with HIV are going to practice self-love, support
and care and b) are allies will love us this Valentines Day.

We ask that individuals and/or organizations create an ICW event for one or
a thousand and publically declare how you willLOVE POSITIVE WOMEN. If
you’re stuck for ideas here are some:

Make a public statement on your website, facebook page, twitter or blog.

Host a valentines making arts and crafts event at your home or in your
local women’s center/AIDS service organization and send them to groups
of women living with HIV.

Host a potluck dinner and movie night for positive women.

Create a workshop in your community focused on women living with HIV.

Have your own special two weeks of self care and plan a nice activity for
each day.

Record a video message declaring your love for positive women and put it on
You Tube!

Bake cupcakes and take them to your local AIDS service organization.

Make a donation to ICW.

As you can see the sky is the limit! You can do anything, and we encourage
everyone to participate.

We are using Facebook as a tool to keep you up to date on any local events
that are happening around the world to celebrate the lives of women living
with HIV.

Once you have decided on your event take a photo and post it on the
Facebook group.
