Hello all


Thursday morning I had the pleasure of speaking with Rebecca Matheson, ICW
Global Director and Jessica Whitbread, ICW Community Relations and
Mobilization Manager.


Among the topics of our conversations was an emphasis on the support of ICW
toward the regions. ICW will be holding a global meeting in Nairobi, Kenya
in December 2014. A good portion of this meeting will address the ways the
global office can assist and support the regions as well as learning the
unique needs of each region. This meeting will take place right after our
ICWNA Board Meeting in November.


For those who do not know, ICW, as an organization, consists of ten
geographic regions and a Chapter for Young Women, Adolescents & Girls
(CYWAG). Each region operates independently while creating visions and
governance in line with the values of ICW. ICW relies on each region to
bring the voice of the women of their region to the global level of ICW,
which, in turn, ensures these voices are heard worldwide. The shared voices
of ICW across all regions become an extremely powerful voice of all. In the
same vein, ICW wants to hear when and where the regions prefer to be
autonomous providing the shared ICW values are upheld.


Furthermore, each region has full support of the global office staff in
regards to operations.


ICW will be launching a new, fully revised website in the near future. This
website will provide links to the page for each specific region while
keeping all ICW members up-to-date with news from around the world. The
latest information from all regions will be available in one location. For
example, there will be links not only to our newsletter but newsletters
from each region.


ICW holds the awesome position of representing women living with HIV from
all over the world, joining together as one voice while representing the
needs of women in each unique corner of our planet.
