Hi everyone,

A gentle reminder about the upcoming Community Forum, Next Tuesday November
18th from 6 – 8 pm at the Chateau Granville. This forum is a little
different from our regular forums, however, dinner at the Chateau will
still be provided! See poster below. There are still spots available for
HIV+ persons – please rsvp to shellyt at positivelivingbc.org or by phone to (604)
893 - 2239

Over the past two years we have been working on a study titled, ‘Stigma and
Access to Health Information in Marginalized Communities’ and as a part of
our dissemination we wanted to present our findings to members of various
communities. While there will be a report back on the study, this night
will actually be an interactive forum that will allow people living with
HIV a chance to discuss the role that stigma plays in our lives.

Living with HIV has dramatically changed since the introduction of highly
active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), but while we have seen drastic
decreases in mortality and morbidity we still face many obstacles today due
to HIV stigma. Positive Living BC, in collaboration with the University of
British Columbia, is hosting a *hands-on workshop* where participants will
have an opportunity to share their experiences and resiliency regarding HIV
stigma as it relates to the *workplace, healthcare settings, community or
social settings, romantic relationships and mental health*. The night will
also include a report back on findings from the ‘*Stigma and Access to
Health Information in Marginalized Communities Study’*.

SERVICE PROVIDERS PLEASE NOTE: We have 10 reserved spots for non HIV Front
Line Workers – there are 4 spots left. We welcome the input of those
working directly in the HIV community, particularly in Social Work,
Nutrition, Nursing, Addictions, Outreach. Please rsvp to
shellyt at positivelivingbc.org or by phone to (604) 893 - 2239
