ICW is excited to have our special guests Daisy Nakato and Anastacia Ryan
from NSWP join us on Wednesday, November 12th for our monthly ICW Members
Advocacy Working Group. We welcome them to lead the discussion on sex
workers’ rights in the context of HIV.

Please see flyer attached for more details as well as some background
information and NSWP+ briefing papers presented below.

Globally, HIV prevalence among female sex workers is 12%, with female sex
workers on average 13.5 times more likely to be living with HIV than other
women of reproductive age. Whilst global attention has increased to sex
workers as a key population targeted for HIV prevention efforts, the voices
and experiences of positive sex workers living with HIV are too often left
out of the conversation, resulting in widespread treatment gaps and a
feeling amongst positive sex workers that they are ‘last in line for
treatment’. NSWP+ is a platform within our wider Global Network of Sex Work
Projects for positive sex workers and people committed to treatment access
and equal rights for positive sex workers.

NSWP+ was formed during the Sex Worker Freedom Festival in 2012, when a
group of positive sex workers came together and demanded recognition that* ‘sex
workers are not the problem, but part of the solution’*. We have launched
this special platform to campaign for the rights of positive sex workers
and to stand in solidarity with other positive networks and treatment
activist movements
