fyi ... this is a forum on mothers with HIV
I asked a few questions and here is the response.

Hi Margarite,

Thank you for your email and interest in the event!

To answer your questions...

- we are not able to provide an honorarium to participants as our
budget does not allow this. Women with HIV with small children who require
childcare are eligible to receive childcare assistance. They can express
this need at time of registration and I’ll make arrangements with them.

- we don’t have a travel budget to cover transportation costs,
e.g. women from the interior or even Victoria. We just don’t have the funds
to do this. I would imagine we could cover local transportation (e.g.
public transit, parking) if women from the Vancouver area would like to
attend. I would need them to express this need at time of registration and
I’d have to assess our budget before committing.

I know this is not ideal and typically we would aim to offer more to
community participants but we’re working with a very limited budget...

- The HIV Mothering Study team (lead researcher is Dr. Saara
Greene, I’m the coordinator of the study) is partnering with a community
leader from Vancouver, Oak Tree Clinic, Simon Fraser University, and
Positive Women’s Network to coordinate and host this event. I have
connected with Sheway and invited them to attend.

The purpose of the forum is to bring together service providers from
diverse perspectives (HIV and obstetrical care providers, community service
providers, etc.), as well as community members to share findings from the
HIV Mothering Study. The HIV Mothering Study was conducted in Ontario and
focused on the psychosocial needs and experiences of women living with HIV
in pregnancy and up to 12 months postpartum (e.g. issues of infant feeding,
healthcare experiences, relationships with health and social care
providers, unique procedures in the perinatal period, etc.). We hope to
discuss whether the HIV Mothering Study findings resonate for community,
health and social service providers, etc. from the Vancouver area and find
out what services/supports exist in the Vancouver region that are
responding to the unique issues of mothers with HIV (e.g. Oak Tree, PWN,
etc.). We hope through a World Café that we can also generate an action
plan for new research and practice questions that remain unanswered related
to mothers with HIV – i.e. where do we go from here regarding research,
policy, practice, etc.? We welcome members of ViVA to discuss the role of
peer support, online networking, peer support groups, etc. in these
endeavours!

I hope that helps to answer your questions and clarify the purpose of the
event...

Let me know if you have further questions or comments – I hope to meet you
and other members of ViVA!

Take care,

Allyson
